About Me

I graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, complemented by a minor in Engineering Management and a concentration in Mechanical Systems and Design. Throughout my academic career, I actively engaged in a variety of organizations and leadership opportunities, including the ODU Engineering Ambassadors, the National Society of Leadership and Success, the ODU Drone Club, and the Perry Honors Living Learning Community.

Currently, I serve as a Process Engineer at BWX Technologies, where I apply engineering principles, problem-solving skills, and continuous improvement methodologies to support manufacturing and operational excellence. My experiences in both academic and professional settings have strengthened my technical expertise, leadership abilities, and commitment to innovation, providing a strong foundation for continued growth and contribution within the engineering profession.

My Story

I spent most of my childhood in Manassas after my family relocated there from Arlington when I was one year old. Raised in a Bengali household alongside my younger brother and sister, I developed a strong appreciation for family, culture, and perseverance from an early age. My parents immigrated from Bangladesh in pursuit of greater opportunities and a better future for our family. They instilled in me a deep sense of pride in my heritage and an understanding of the sacrifices that made those opportunities possible. Reflecting on their journey and sacrifices continues to inspire my work ethic, gratitude, and commitment to using engineering to make a positive impact on society.

From a young age, I was fascinated by technology and the innovations shaping the world around us. This interest led me to join the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) engineering program in high school, where I spent four years developing a foundation in engineering principles and exploring multiple disciplines within the field.

Through the program, I gained experience with tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and NI Multisim while working on projects involving digital electronics, structural design, and engineering analysis. Encouraged by my peers and mentors, I chose to pursue my passion further by studying Mechanical Engineering at Old Dominion University.

I chose to attend Old Dominion University because of its highly regarded engineering program and vibrant campus environment. Transitioning from a suburban community to an urban campus challenged me to step outside my comfort zone and adapt to new experiences and perspectives.

Over time, I found a strong sense of belonging within the Batten College of Engineering and the Perry Honors College Living Learning Community. The friendships and connections I built there became an invaluable support system, helping me navigate the challenges of college life and grow both academically and personally.

During my time at Old Dominion University, I further developed my technical and professional skills through a combination of academic coursework, leadership involvement, and hands-on experiences. In addition to my studies, I served in leadership roles within organizations such as the National Society of Leadership and Success and the ODU Engineering Ambassadors, where I had the opportunity to engage with and mentor fellow students while sharing my experiences with diverse audiences. Following graduation, I began my career as a Process Engineer at BWX Technologies, where I continue to apply and expand upon the knowledge gained throughout my academic journey. Looking ahead, I plan to further advance my education by pursuing a master's degree while continuing to grow as an engineering professional.
